Floyd Crosby was an American cinematographer and director. He is best known for his work on the films High Noon (1952) and Tabu (1931). He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for High Noon. Crosby was born in New York City in 1899. He began his career as a camera assistant in the 1920s, working on films such as The Big Parade (1925) and The Crowd (1928). He then moved up to cinematographer, working on films such as Tabu (1931) and The Most Dangerous Game (1932). In the 1940s, Crosby worked on a number of films, including The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) and The Searchers (1956). He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on High Noon (1952). Crosby continued to work as a cinematographer and director until his death in 1985. He was inducted into the American Society of Cinematographers Hall of Fame in 1984.

Floyd and Aliph were divorced in 1960 and Floyd married Betty Cormack the same year. During World War II Crosby shot training films for pilots learning air routes and landing patterns all over the world (these films are vary difficult to find today and do not carry credits).
In the late 1960s he retired to live with his wife Betty in Ojai, CA.
He enjoyed working on Hollywood "B" movies and shot many of them in the 1950s and 1960s, often for director Roger Corman.
Crosby left the military as a major in 1946.
Floyd married Aliph Van Cortland Whitehead in 1940 and they had two children, Floyd Delafield Crosby (Ethan) in 1936 and David Crosby in 1940.
